The EarthWays Center, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden, is located in the city of St Louis Missouri, in the Grand Center Arts District. The EarthWays Center is a 1885 three story Victorian home that was renovated in 1994 to demonstrate "green" building practices. The structure includes energy efficient lighting sources and windows, geothermal heating and cooling as well as a high efficiency gas furnace and fireplace options, water saving fixtures, on-demand water heating, sustainable flooring options such as cork and bamboo, solar-powered, high-efficiency kitchen appliances and more. The offices using the Center practice recycling and composting in all areas of their daily routines. The Center is open the third Saturday and Sunday of every month and tours are at 11am, noon, 1pm, and 2pm. An admission fee is charged, free to Garden members and children 12 and under.
